Kominato Station is centrally located in the town of Hiranai, Aomori Prefecture, making it a vital transportation hub for the area. Beyond its railway services, the station also acts as a bus terminal for Shimokita Kōtsu, offering local bus routes that connect the station and central Hiranai to various communities throughout the town. Railway Lines
The station is a key stop on the Aoimori Railway Line, operated by the regional rail company, Aoimori Railway Company. It features one island platform and one side platform, connected by a footbridge, accommodating three tracks. Kominato Station is situated 94.5 km from Metoki and 27.4 km from Aomori, with Shimizugawa as the preceding station towards Metoki and Nishi-Hiranai towards Aomori. Passenger trains operate for 17 hours daily, with a frequency of approximately 30 minutes during morning peak hours.
Station History
Kominato Station boasts a long history, having been in operation since September 1, 1891. The current station building, featuring its side and island platform layout, was completed in 1986. Since 2010, the station has been under the operation of the Aoimori Railway Company, marking a significant transition in its management. It is recognized as the busiest railway station within Hiranai.

For travelers, Kominato Station offers free parking nearby and bicycle racks, making it convenient for those exploring the area by car or bike. The station is staffed (Midori no Madoguchi) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:30 am to 2:00 pm, providing assistance and ticket services during these hours. Its role as a bus station further enhances its utility for exploring the wider Hiranai region.
