Location & Access
Kōge Station is situated in Yazu, Yazu District, Tottori Prefecture, Japan. It serves as a crucial transportation hub for the local area. The station is jointly operated by the West Japan Railway Company (JR West) and the third-sector company Wakasa Railway, making it a unique point of connection between two distinct rail networks. Travelers can also access bus services directly from the station.
Railway Lines
The station is a junction for two significant lines: the JR West Inbi Line and the Wakasa Railway Wakasa Line. While Kōge Station is the official starting point for the Wakasa Line, approximately half of its trains continue directly onto the JR Inbi Line, extending their journey to Tottori Station. This seamless integration provides convenient transfers for passengers. Furthermore, Kōge Station is a mandatory stop for all 'Super Inaba' limited express trains connecting Okayama and Tottori, and all 'Super Hakuto' limited express trains traveling between Kyoto/Osaka and Tottori/Kurayoshi via the Chizu Express Line.
Station History
Kōge Station officially opened its doors to passengers on December 20, 1919. Over its long history, it has evolved into a staffed station, providing essential services to travelers. Its strategic location and the integration of multiple railway lines have solidified its role as a vital link in the regional transportation network.
Travel Tips
When planning your journey, note that Kōge Station is approximately 10.3 km (6.4 miles) from Tottori Station. Given its status as a stop for limited express trains, it offers excellent connectivity for those traveling to or from major cities like Kyoto, Osaka, and Okayama. Be sure to check the schedules for both JR West and Wakasa Railway to optimize your travel plans.
