Railway Lines

This unique transportation system, officially named the Guideway Bus Shidami Line (ガイドウェイバス志段味線), is a guided bus and bus rapid transit line. The name "Yutorito" is a clever portmanteau of "yutori" (ゆとり; meaning "relaxed") and "street" (ストリート, sutorīto), reflecting its aim to provide a relaxed and efficient travel experience. The line, which spans 6.5 km (4.0 mi) and features 9 stations, connects Ōzone to Obata Ryokuchi.

Station History

The Yutorito Line, and consequently Kawamura Station, began service on March 23, 2001. The line is operated by the Nagoya Guideway Bus Company, a consortium owned by the City of Nagoya Municipal Government, Development Bank of Japan, Meitetsu (Nagoya Railroad), JR Tokai Bus Company, and MUFG Bank. While Meitetsu Bus and JR Tokai Bus Company were former operators, the current structure ensures a robust and well-supported public transport system for Nagoya.

Travel Tips

When using Kawamura Station, be aware that it is part of a unique guided bus system. This means the vehicles operate as buses on regular roads but transition to a dedicated guideway for faster, more efficient travel. Check the Yutorito Line schedule for optimal planning.
