Location & Access
Kasubuchi Station was situated in Misato, Ōchi District, Shimane Prefecture, Japan. Although the station itself is now closed, the area is known for its scenic location along a meandering section of the Gō-no-kawa River. While the railway line is no longer operational, local bus services might still connect the former station area to nearby towns and attractions.
Railway Lines
The station was formerly part of the Sankō Line, operated by West Japan Railway Company (JR West). The Sankō Line, once a vital link through this rural region, ceased operations on April 1, 2018, leading to the closure of Kasubuchi Station and all other stations along the line.
Station History
Kasubuchi Station opened in 1937. Interestingly, the local place name uses a variant character for "fuchi" (渕), while the station name officially used the standard character (淵). The station's existence was a result of strong local lobbying. Initial plans for the Sankō Line involved a tunnel to shorten the route from Akatsuka Station, but local residents successfully advocated for a river-side route, which led to the establishment of Kasubuchi Station and Hamahara Station.
