Location & Access
Kanda Station is conveniently situated in the town of Kanda, within Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. Its strategic location makes it a vital transportation hub for local residents, particularly commuters heading to the larger city of Kitakyushu. The station is easily accessible and serves as a gateway to the surrounding area.
The current station building was completed on April 22, 2006, coinciding with the opening of Kitakyushu Airport on March 16, 2006. This modernization effort by the prefecture and town aimed to enhance the station's functionality and aesthetics.
Railway Lines
Operated by JR Kyushu, Kanda Station is an integral part of the Nippō Main Line (JF08). It is located 18.6 km from Kokura Station. The station features one side platform and one island platform, accommodating three tracks. During morning rush hours, a dedicated six-car train operates one round trip between Kanda Station and Kokura Station, catering to the high volume of commuters.
Station History
Kanda Station has a long history, having first opened its doors on April 1, 1895. Interestingly, it was known as Kanta Station until 1958 before adopting its current name. The station has undergone significant developments, including the construction of its modern elevated structure and the renovation of its station building in 2006 to better serve the growing needs of the region and its connection to the new Kitakyushu Airport.

As a staffed station with a Midori no Madoguchi (ticket office), Kanda Station offers convenient services for travelers. Given its role as a commuter hub, especially during peak hours, it's advisable to check train schedules in advance if you're planning to travel during these times.
