Railway Lines
Kakunodate Station is an interchange station operated by both East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and Akita Nairiku Jūkan Railway. JR East services include the Akita Shinkansen (Mini-Shinkansen) and the Tazawako Line. Notably, almost all "Komachi" Shinkansen services stop here, with the exception of the last downbound and first upbound trains. The Akita Nairiku Line, operated by Akita Nairiku Jūkan Railway, also terminates at Kakunodate, offering scenic local routes.
