Itsutsubashi Station officially opened its doors on July 15, 1987, making it over 38 years old. Notably, the station once shared its name with a former Sendai City Tram stop, 五ツ橋停留場 (Itsutsubashi Teiryūjō), highlighting its long-standing significance in Sendai's public transport history. As of FY 2015, the station recorded a daily ridership of 5,857, underscoring its importance to the local community. The station also holds the sub-name "Tohoku Gakuin University-mae" until March 31, 2025, indicating its proximity to the university.
