Station History

Imagawa-Kappa Station officially opened on October 1, 1990. Its distinctive name, Imagawa-Kappa, is inspired by the local legends of kappa (a mythical water imp) associated with the Imagawa River. From April 1, 2009, an insurance agency, Hoken Hiroba, acquired naming rights, leading to the station being temporarily known as Hoken Hiroba Youme Town Yukuhashi Branch Imagawa-Kappa Station. However, as of April 2022, this naming rights contract has ended, and the station has reverted to its original name, Imagawa-Kappa Station, once again highlighting its unique cultural connection.
