Location & Access

Hyūga-Shintomi Station is conveniently situated in the town of Shintomi, within Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. While the station itself is at grade, access to its single island platform requires using a footbridge, making it currently not accessible for all. A bike shed is available for cyclists.

Railway Lines

The station is an integral part of the Nippō Main Line, a significant railway route operated by JR Kyushu. It is located 320.0 km from Kokura, serving as a key stop between Sadowara (towards Kagoshima) and Takanabe (towards Kokura). The station features two tracks and two sidings to manage train movements efficiently.

Station History

Opened on September 11, 1920, Hyūga-Shintomi Station has a long history, originally known as Minashiro until March 20, 1961. Until 1996, it marked the southern end of the area under the jurisdiction of the JNR Oita Railway Administration Bureau and later the JR Kyushu Oita Branch. In fiscal year 2016, the station served an average of 287 daily passengers.
