Railway Lines
The station is primarily served by the Hachinohe Line, operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East). It is located 5.5 km from Hachinohe Station, with Naganawashiro being the preceding station towards Hachinohe and Konakano the following station towards Kuji. While officially listed as a freight depot for the Japan Freight Railway Company (JR Freight), freight operations ceased in June 2006, and no freight trains currently depart or arrive here.
Station History
Hon-Hachinohe Station has a long history, having first opened its doors on January 4, 1898. Interestingly, the station was known simply as "Hachinohe" until 1971, when it was renamed to its current designation. The freight handling station, which branched off the Hachinohe Line and ran along the Mabechi River, concluded its operations in 2006.
