Location & Access
Fudōnosawa Station was situated in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. While the original railway services have been suspended, the area is now served by a provisional Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line, which effectively replaces the former train route. This BRT stop is located in Shirotanda, Kesennuma City.
Railway Lines
Originally, Fudōnosawa Station was an integral part of the JR East Kesennuma Line, connecting various communities along its route. The station was located 69.6 km from Maeyachi, serving as a stop between Minami-Kesennuma and the Kesennuma Terminus. Today, the Kesennuma Line BRT continues to provide transportation in the region, following a similar path to the original railway.
Station History
Fudōnosawa Station first opened its doors to passengers on October 10, 1960, providing vital rail access to the local community. For over five decades, it served as a key transportation hub. However, its operation as a railway station ceased on March 11, 2011, due to the devastating Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. Following this event, JR East transitioned the railway line to a provisional Bus Rapid Transit system to restore essential public transport services to the affected areas.

While the original Fudōnosawa Station no longer operates as a train station, visitors to Kesennuma can still utilize the Kesennuma Line BRT to explore the region.
