Station History
Opened on April 7, 1968, Daikai Station holds a significant place in engineering history. It was the first underground structure not crossing an active fault that completely collapsed during an earthquake without liquefaction of the surrounding soil, and this event was thoroughly documented. The station underwent a major rebuilding effort between January 18, 1995, and January 17, 1996, following the devastating Great Hanshin earthquake. This reconstruction ensured its resilience and continued service to the community.
