Station History

Originally opened on April 1, 1924, the station was known simply as Maebaru until October 1, 1937, when it was renamed Chikuzen-Maebaru. Before the electrification of the Chikuhi Line, the express train 'Hirado' used to stop here. With over a century of history, the station has evolved into a modern transportation hub, handling a significant daily passenger volume, ranking 23rd among JR Kyushu stations in FY2020 with 5364 daily passengers.
