Station History
Opened on September 1, 1891, the station was originally known as Asamushi until 1986. These included night express trains like 'Hakkoda' and 'Towada' to and from Ueno Station, as well as daytime limited express services such as 'Hatsukari', 'Super Hatsukari', 'Tsugaru', 'Super Hakuchō', and 'Hakuchō'.
