Station History
Akaoka Station, in its current form, opened on July 1, 2002. However, a station with the same name, operated by the Tosa Electric Railway Aki Line, existed in almost the same location until March 31, 1974. This indicates a long history of railway service to the Akaoka area, connecting it to the wider region. The station recorded an average daily ridership of 268 passengers in fiscal year 2011.
