Akagi Station (赤城駅, Akagi-eki) is conveniently situated in the city of Midori, within Gunma Prefecture, Japan. This station serves as a vital transportation link for both local residents and visitors exploring the area. Railway Lines
The station is a joint operation between two private railway companies: the Tōbu Railway and the Jōmō Electric Railway. Passengers can access the Tōbu Kiryū Line, with the preceding station being Aioi (TI 56) towards Asakusa or Ōta. Additionally, Akagi Station is a key stop on the Jōmō Line, with Higashi-Nikkawa as the preceding station towards Chūō-Maebashi and Kiryū-Kyūjō-Mae towards Nishi-Kiryū. This dual-line access offers excellent connectivity.
Station History
Akagi Station first opened its doors to passengers on November 10, 1928. Interestingly, it was known by a different name, Shin-Ōmama, until 1958, when it adopted its current designation. With a reported ridership of 1201 (Tōbu) in FY2019, the station continues to be an active part of Gunma's railway network.
