Station History
Opened on April 5, 1898, Ajikawaguchi Station has a long history. Tragically, on January 29, 1940, the area near the station was the site of a devastating train collision on what was then the Nishinari Line (now the Sakurajima Line). Three trains, one carrying gasoline and others factory workers, collided, resulting in a fire that claimed 181 lives and injured 92 people. This somber event remains a significant part of the station's past.
