Location & Access
Agano Station (吾野駅, Agano-eki) is a passenger railway station situated in the city of Hannō, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by the private railway company Seibu Railway. The station's location in Sakashimachi-bun, Hannō, makes it a key access point for the surrounding areas.
Railway Lines
Agano Station holds a unique position in the Seibu Railway network. It serves as the official terminus of the Seibu Ikebukuro Line and simultaneously marks the starting point of the Seibu Chichibu Line. While the opening of the Seibu Chichibu Line has made Agano more of an intermediate station for through services, it still retains a few originating and terminating trains. The station features one island platform with two tracks and is located 57.8 km from Ikebukuro, with station code SI31.
Station History
Agano Station first opened its doors on September 10, 1929. Over the decades, it has evolved with the expansion of the Seibu Railway network, particularly with the integration of the Seibu Chichibu Line, which altered its operational character from a primary terminus to a significant transfer point.
Travel Tips
For travelers using Agano Station, it's important to note its dual role as both an end and a beginning point for different lines. While many trains pass through, some services still start or end here. The station recorded an average of 617 daily passengers in FY2019, indicating a steady flow of local commuters and visitors exploring the Saitama region.
