Kamakura

A Buddhist temple famous for its 13-meter statue of Buddha. Entrance fee 300 yen.

The temple offers a picturesque view from its observation deck. Admission is 400 yen.

If you get off a little earlier than Kamakurakōkō-Mae Station, you can watch local surfers — they usually hang out at Yuigahama and Shichirigahama beaches. From Shichirigahama Beach it’s possible to reach the Inamuragasaki rock in about half an hour.

Curry buns at a stall on the main street — they're incredibly spicy and creamy. Only 450 yen each.

From here you get impressive views of the bay and Mount Fuji — if you’re lucky with the weather.

Right by the train station is the pedestrian Komachi Street, lined with various cafés.

The town lies on the shore of Sagami Bay, along which runs a scenic railway line served by a small retro train of two carriages. The most famous station is Kamakurakōkō‑Mae — where the tracks run close to the shore — and passing trains look very picturesque against the sea.

If you get off a little before Kamakurakōkō‑Mae Station, you can watch local surfers — they usually hang out on Yuigahama and Shichirigahama beaches.
